Their institute is the Temple, a converted hospital buried in its own grounds and unknown, even, to the authorities. And Alice, it seems, is their newest member.

I found Dark to be intriguing from the first page! The story is well written, if a teeny bit overly detailed. This is occasionally an issue for me when too much detail begins to stray from the story line. Not the case here. I felt the author was trying to paint a detailed portrait of characters and scenes for the reader and did a good job of it, though I did have to skim through paragraphs here and there! I quickly fell in love with Dark and Alice and found myself not only pondering the story when I was away from my Kindle, but also rooting for them through every obstacle they faced! The story is filled with action, betrayal, mystery, all the while slowly revealing a budding romance! Definitely a series I will continue with and recommend to anyone who enjoys fantasy, paranormal, or just loves vampire stories!

This was a good read, yet not enthralling. Didn't really have a solid plot Line, nor did it explain itself fully. Great imagery though.
I feel like I should apologize for not liking this book. I was bored and I never did finish it.
Great story line, wish the story would have been longer not ready for story to end! Want to read next book now!
I am left waiting for book 2! this started off slow and almost put it down. First book on my new KF and I wanted something that grabbed me. This did just that! by chapter 3 I was hooked. the descriptive wording is a bit much at times but the twist on a vampire world is a nice change.
I really loved this book! I only got it because it was on offer for my for free and it looked a little interesting and boy, I'm glad I did.

It started off slow but by the 3rd chapter it had me hooked. Very realistic, down-to-earth imagery.

The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because of the slow start. If this author comes out with more, I will definitely look into it.
I can't wait till autumn 2013 for the next book. This was pretty much edge of your seat book. I will admit that some of the descriptions were long and too flowery. But Chester does a great job of drawing you in. The end though has me very very frustrated!
I cannot put a spoiler in this review...but The cliff hanger at the end makes for a book that cannot be put down until the end is read.
Alice meets Dark in her favorite café. He asks her to meet him later and then the world changes and Alice becomes a hero herself while she helps Dark become the hero he always was but never believed he could be.
This is a totally different direction than any other vampire book I have ever read. I love the supernatural/paranormal books about things that go bump in the night. I now have found a new author that I will continue to follow. I cannot wait for the second book in her series.
